What Zion Houses Tend to Fill Up With
Zion started as a planned city, drawn up around Shiloh Park with avenues named out of the Bible. That history left a lot of older frame houses and bungalows in the middle of town. Full basements, walk-up attics, and garages built for a narrower car than anything sold now.
Older houses collect layers. A couch that went downstairs when the new one came. A chest freezer that quit and never got dragged back up. Boxes in the attic nobody has opened since the last owner left them.
Out on the west side the houses are newer and the junk is different. Playsets the kids outgrew. A treadmill in the spare room. Patio furniture that didn't make it through the winter. Either way it's the same call. You show us what's there and we give you one number to make it gone.
Furniture and Mattress Removal in Zion
Sofas, sectionals, recliners, dressers, bed frames, mattresses and box springs are most of what we carry. One piece is fine. You don't need a truckload to call.
Most haulers limit bulk items at the curb or charge extra for them, and a queen mattress leaning on the garage for a month does nobody any good. Our furniture pickup crew takes pieces out of the room they're sitting in, so you aren't wrestling a sleeper sofa down the front steps yourself.
Beds work the same way. If you need a mattress and box spring hauled off, strip the sheets and leave the rest to us. Frames come apart on the spot if they won't clear the hallway.
How Junk Pickup Works on Zion Streets
Text a photo of the pile, the room or the single item to (224) 944-8652. We text back one flat price. You pick a slot, and same-day and next-day slots are often open. Then the crew shows up, carries everything out from wherever it sits, sweeps up and drives off with it.
Zion is an easy town for a truck. Sheridan Road runs north and south along the east side, Route 173 cuts across town, and Lewis Avenue and Green Bay Road cover the rest. We're coming up from Waukegan, a short drive south, so there's no long haul built into your day.
You don't have to be home. Leave the garage unlocked or tell us the pile is on the side of the house, and we'll text you when it's done. Stairs are normal for us. So are basements, attics and upstairs bedrooms.
Appliance and Electronics Pickup for Zion Homes
Dead fridges, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and water heaters all go on the truck. Anything with refrigerant in it needs that refrigerant recovered before the metal can be scrapped, which is one reason an old fridge can't just go out with the trash. Our old appliance haul-away covers the carry from the basement or the kitchen too.
TVs, computers, monitors and printers are their own problem. Illinois bans electronics from landfills, so they have to go to a recycler. Hand them over with the rest of the load and we'll get the old TVs and computers recycled before they stack up in another closet.
Basement, Attic and Estate Cleanouts in Zion
A house that's been in one family for decades doesn't empty in an afternoon with a borrowed pickup. When a parent's place needs to be cleared before it's sold, we take it room by room. You pull out what the family is keeping. We haul what's left.
For a job that size we usually come look first. It takes about fifteen minutes and it's free. Our whole-house estate clearing is priced the same way as a single couch, by how much truck space the stuff fills.
Smaller jobs are just as common. One damp corner of a basement. The crawl space over the garage. If the stairs are steep and the ceiling is low, that's our problem and not yours. Ask about clearing out a basement when you send the photo.
What Zion Junk Removal Costs
We charge by volume. That means how much of the truck your stuff takes up: a quarter, a half, three quarters or the whole thing. Labor, loading, sweep-up and disposal are already inside the number.
There's no hourly rate, no fuel surcharge, no stairs fee and no weight fee. There's also no extra charge for distance anywhere inside Lake County, so a house in Zion is quoted the same way as a house in Waukegan.
You approve the price before anybody lifts a thing. The pricing page walks through the truck fractions if you want to guess your size ahead of time.
Where the Load Goes After It Leaves
Nothing gets dumped in one heap. Loads get sorted. Usable furniture and household goods go to donation. Metal goes to scrap recycling. Electronics go to an electronics recycler. What's left goes to a licensed transfer station.
Yard waste stays out of the landfill too, since Illinois keeps it out by law. So the brush pile and the busted dresser may ride on the same truck, but they don't end up in the same place.
What We Can't Haul
It's a short list: wet paint, solvents, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks, asbestos, ammunition and medical waste. None of it can ride with us.
For paint, oil and household chemicals, SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, runs household chemical waste collection for county residents. Check with them for drop-off details.
We also don't rent dumpsters, tear down buildings, move households or clean houses. We haul junk. If you live south of town, we run the same service for junk hauling in Beach Park, and north of here for Winthrop Harbor pickups.
