Junk Removal Services in Waukegan: Start Here
Most people call a junk hauler once every few years. So it's normal not to know what to ask for. Is one couch a real job? Is a full basement one visit or three? Does somebody have to be home? This page answers that. It lays out every service we offer, who each one fits, and what the price is based on.
The short version: if it's in your house, garage, yard, storage unit or office and you want it gone, we probably haul it. We carry it out from wherever it sits, sweep up and take it away. One flat price, agreed before we lift anything.

How Junk Removal Works, Whatever the Service
Every service below runs the same four steps. You text a photo of the item, the pile or the room to (224) 944-8652. We text back one flat price. You pick a slot, and same-day and next-day slots are often open. Then the crew shows up, carries everything out, sweeps the space and hauls the load away.
The price is based on volume. That means how much of the truck your stuff fills. Labor, loading, sweep-up and disposal are inside the number. There's no hourly rate, no fuel surcharge, no stairs fee and no weight fee. You can read the details on our junk removal pricing page.
| Load size | What it usually looks like |
|---|---|
| Quarter truck | A few items, like a couch and a mattress |
| Half truck | About one room |
| Three-quarter truck | A packed garage |
| Full truck | A whole house |
Item Pickup Services: Furniture, Appliances and Mattresses
These are the single-item and few-item jobs. They're the most common calls we get, and none of them is too small. A sleeper sofa on the second floor. A fridge that died in the garage. Two mattresses and a box spring after the kids moved out.
The three core services here are furniture removal, appliance removal and mattress removal. Around them sit the more specific ones: TVs and electronics, treadmills and home gyms, and hot tubs. Each has its own page because each comes out of a house differently. A treadmill in a basement is a very different carry than a flat screen on a wall.
Cleanout Services: Garage, Basement, Attic and Whole-House
A cleanout is when the job is a space, not an item. You don't want to list everything in the garage. You want the garage back. We work room by room, you point at what stays, and everything else goes on the truck.
The core cleanout services are garage cleanouts, basement cleanouts and estate cleanouts. Attic cleanouts, storage unit cleanouts, move-out cleanouts and hoarding cleanup branch off from those. The work is similar. What changes is the access, the pace and how much sorting happens before we load.
- Garage: usually the fastest, since the truck backs right up to the door
- Basement and attic: everything comes up or down stairs, so we plan the carry first
- Estate and move-out: there's often a deadline, like a closing date or the end of a lease
- Storage unit: we empty it front to back and sweep it so you can hand the unit back
- Hoarding cleanup: slower and more careful, and you decide what stays
Yard Waste, Construction Debris and Commercial Junk Removal
Not all junk is inside. After a storm or a big weekend of yard work, there's a brush pile by the fence. After a remodel, there's a heap of drywall, old cabinets and flooring in the driveway. We load both and haul them.
Two honest limits. We haul debris that's already torn out, but we don't do the demolition, and we don't rent dumpsters. For businesses, we clear desks, shelving, cubicles and back rooms.
What Lake County Homes Send Us Most
Where you live shapes what you need hauled. In the older parts of Waukegan, North Chicago and Zion, it's heavy furniture and appliances coming down narrow stairs from houses and two-flats. In the subdivisions around Gurnee, Grayslake and Lindenhurst, it's full garages and finished basements. Along the Chain O'Lakes it's cottages, old boat and dock gear, and seasonal cleanouts. On the North Shore and around the Barringtons, it's big-house estate work.
The rules matter too. Illinois and Wisconsin both keep TVs, computers and other electronics out of landfills, and both keep yard waste out. Appliances with refrigerant need it recovered before they're scrapped. That's why you can't just put these at the curb, and it's a big part of why people call us.
Which Junk Removal Service Do You Need?
If you're not sure what to call your job, match it here. If nothing fits, text a photo anyway. We'll tell you what it is.
| Your situation | The service to look at |
|---|---|
| One or two big items | Furniture, appliance or mattress removal |
| A room or space you want empty | Garage, basement or attic cleanout |
| A relative's house has to be cleared | Estate cleanout |
| You're moving out and stuff is left over | Move-out cleanout |
| A locker you want to stop paying for | Storage unit cleanout |
| Branches, brush or remodel debris outside | Yard waste or construction debris removal |
Before the Crew Arrives: A Short Checklist
You don't have to do any of this. But each one makes the job faster or the load smaller, and a smaller load costs less.
- Pull out anything you're keeping, or tag it so it's obvious
- Empty fridges and freezers, and unplug them the day before
- Drain gas and oil from mowers and snowblowers, since fuel can't ride with us
- Flatten boxes and stack loose items together
- Set aside paint, solvents, motor oil and propane tanks. We can't take those
- Clear a path to the door if you can, and tell us about tight stairs
- If you won't be home, text a photo of what goes so we can confirm
Junk Removal vs. Renting a Dumpster vs. Hauling It Yourself
There are three ways to get rid of a lot of stuff, and each fits a different job. Knowing which is which saves you money.
A dumpster makes sense when the mess is being made over days or weeks, like a long remodel, and you have a driveway to park a bin on and the back to fill it yourself. We don't rent them. Hauling it yourself makes sense when it's a small load, you own a truck, and you know where each kind of item is accepted. Remember that electronics, appliances and yard waste can't all go to the same place.
Junk removal makes sense when the pile already exists and you want it gone in one visit without lifting it. That covers most household jobs: the stuff is upstairs or in the basement, it's heavy, there's a deadline, or you just don't want to spend a Saturday on it. The crew does the carrying, the truck leaves with everything, and nothing sits on your driveway.
Mistakes People Make When Booking Junk Removal
A few things trip people up. None of them is a big deal, but skipping them makes the day smoother.
- Sending one photo of a big job. Take three or four from different corners so the quote matches the real load
- Forgetting what's behind the pile. The stuff at the back of the garage counts too
- Waiting until the day before a closing or a lease ending. Book as soon as you know the date
- Leaving paint cans and propane tanks mixed in. Pull them out first, since they can't go on the truck
- Booking three small pickups instead of one. One combined load is almost always the better price
What We Can't Haul
The list is short and it's mostly hazardous material: wet paint, solvents, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks, asbestos, ammunition and medical waste. In Lake County, SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, runs household chemical waste collection for residents. In Wisconsin, check your county's household hazardous waste collection.
We also stay in our lane. We're junk haulers. We don't rent dumpsters, demolish buildings, move households or clean houses.
