Move-Out Junk Removal in North Chicago

Moving day has a deadline, and it never leaves time for the last pile. The couch that isn't worth shipping. The mattress the next place doesn't need. A desk, two lamps, a microwave and six bags of things nobody decided on.

We clear what you're not taking so you can hand back the keys. We aren't movers and we don't clean, but once the junk is gone the place gets swept where the pile sat. Landlords and property managers call for the same thing after a tenant leaves. See our move-out junk clearing for how it's quoted.

What North Chicago Homes and Rentals Leave Behind

North Chicago is an older lakefront city just south of Waukegan. A lot of the housing is older frame houses, small apartment buildings and rental units, with single-family blocks in between.

Rentals turn over, and every turnover leaves something. Bed frames. A dresser with a broken drawer. A fridge that came with the unit two tenants ago. Older houses add their own layer, like a basement full of paint-spattered shelving or a porch couch that's seen a few winters.

Students near Rosalind Franklin University on Green Bay Road and families on Navy orders are often gone before the furniture is. If the leftovers went into a rented locker, we handle storage locker cleanouts as well.

Apartment and Upstairs Pickups Near Great Lakes

Third-floor walk-up, no elevator, tight landing. Fine. We don't charge a stairs fee and we don't expect you to bring anything down.

It helps to know a few things ahead of time. Where can a truck park. Is there a back stair or an alley door. Does the building need notice. Put that in the text with your photo and the pickup goes quicker.

The process is short. Photo to (224) 944-8652, flat price back, pick a slot. Same-day and next-day openings come up often, which matters when the lease is up Friday. You don't need to be there if someone can let us in.

Mattress and Furniture Haul-Away for North Chicago Residents

A mattress is the hardest thing to get rid of on your own. It doesn't fit in a car and most haulers won't take it at the curb without a fee or a wait. We'll carry it out of the bedroom, box spring and frame too. That's what mattress disposal pickup is for.

Furniture goes the same way. Sectionals, futons, dining tables, bunk beds, entertainment centers, office chairs. If it's too big for the door in one piece, we take it apart. Our couch and furniture haul-away runs every day we're open.

Old TVs ride along too. Illinois keeps electronics out of landfills, so we route them to a recycler.

Where a North Chicago Load Gets Sorted

Once the truck is full, the load gets separated. Furniture and household goods that are still usable go to donation. Appliances and other metal go to scrap recycling, with refrigerant recovered first from anything that has it. TVs and computers go to an electronics recycler.

The rest goes to a licensed transfer station. That's the last stop, not the first one.

How We Price Junk Hauling in North Chicago

Volume. That's it. We look at how much room your stuff will take in the truck and quote a quarter, half, three-quarter or full load.

The number already includes the crew's labor, loading, sweeping up and disposal. No hourly meter. No fuel surcharge. No fee for weight or for stairs. North Chicago sits right next to our home city, and even if it didn't, we don't charge for distance in Lake County.

You get the price first and nothing moves until you say go. There's more on what a quarter or half truck looks like if you want to size it up yourself.

Office and Commercial Junk Removal Along Sheridan Road and Route 41

Businesses pile up junk too. Desks and cubicle panels from an office that downsized. Steel shelving from a stockroom. Broken chairs, dead printers, file cabinets nobody has opened in years.

We work around your hours where we can, Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm, with Sunday by appointment. Shops and offices on Sheridan Road, Buckley Road and the Route 41 corridor are a quick trip for us. Details are on the business and office cleanout page.

Have a second location or a tenant farther south? We also do pickups in Lake Bluff.

Things We Have to Leave Behind

Eight things stay put: asbestos, ammunition, medical waste, propane tanks, gasoline, motor oil, solvents and wet paint.

If a move-out turns up half-full paint cans or jugs of old oil, the county has a place for them. SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, runs household chemical waste collection for Lake County residents.

Also outside what we do: renting dumpsters, demolishing buildings, moving your belongings to a new address and cleaning.

North Chicago Junk Removal Questions

I'm leaving on Navy orders next week. Can you clear my place before I go?

Most likely, yes. Same-day and next-day slots are often open, so a week is plenty of notice. Text a photo of what you're not taking and we'll send one flat price. If you ship out before pickup day, you don't have to be there. We just need a way in and a clear list.

Do you pick up on the base at Naval Station Great Lakes?

We pick up at homes, apartments and businesses throughout North Chicago. The base has its own access rules, and those aren't ours to set, so we can't promise a truck through the gate. If you live in Navy housing, text us what you have and where it sits. We'll tell you straight whether we can get to it.

I manage a few rentals in North Chicago. Can you handle tenant leftovers?

Yes. Send a photo of each unit and we'll quote each one by the truck space it needs. You don't have to meet us if there's a lockbox or someone on site. We carry everything out, sweep where it sat and haul it off. We don't do cleaning, so plan your cleaner for after we're done.

Is there a charge for a third-floor apartment?

No stairs fee, ever. The price comes from volume, meaning how much of the truck your things fill. A recliner from the third floor costs what a recliner from a first-floor living room costs. Let us know the floor anyway so we send enough people for the carry.

Can you take just a mattress and box spring?

Yes. Single items are fine, and a mattress set is one of the most common pickups there is. We'll carry it out of the bedroom so you don't have to fight it down the stairs. Text a photo, get your price, and pick a time that works.

Do you work Sundays in North Chicago?

Sunday is by appointment. Regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm. If Sunday is the only day you have before a move, say so in your text and we'll tell you what we can do. Asking early in the week gives you the best chance.

What happens to furniture that's still in good shape?

It gets set aside for donation when the load is sorted. Metal goes to scrap recycling, electronics go to an electronics recycler, and what can't be reused or recycled goes to a licensed transfer station. If you know a piece is still solid, point it out so it gets loaded with care.

The last tenant left paint cans and a propane tank. Will you take those?

No, we can't. Wet paint and propane tanks are both on the list of things that can't go on the truck, along with solvents, motor oil and gasoline. For the paint and other household chemicals, look to SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. We'll haul everything else the tenant left.
