Junk Removal for Knollwood's Mid-Century Homes
Most of the houses in Knollwood are modest and were built a couple of generations ago. Single-story ranches and small two-stories on regular lots, with a one-car or two-car garage and a basement that does a lot of work.
Smaller houses hit their limit sooner. There's no spare wing to shove things into. So the basement takes the old couch, the garage takes the dresser, and the car moves outside. Then one more thing shows up and there's nowhere left.
That's usually when the phone comes out. The good news is that a smaller house also means a faster job.
Single-Item Pickup in Knollwood: Sofas, Mattresses and Appliances
You don't need a truckload. Plenty of stops are one thing. A loveseat with a broken frame. A mattress that's past it. A washer that walked across the floor one time too many.
For seating, tables, desks and bedroom pieces, our couch and furniture pickup takes them from the room they're in. We don't ask you to get anything to the curb.
Beds are their own call. With mattress pickup, we take the mattress, the box spring and the frame in one go, from any floor.
Then the machines. Washer, dryer and fridge hauling covers the laundry pair, the range, the dishwasher, the water heater and the garage freezer. Unplug and empty them first. Units with refrigerant have it recovered before they're scrapped.
Knollwood Junk Removal Pricing by Truck Space
Here's the whole pricing system. Your stuff fills some part of the truck. That part is your price. We count it in quarters, up to a full truck.
What's inside the price:
- Carrying from the room to the truck, stairs included
- All the loading
- A sweep of the area when we're done
- Disposal, recycling and donation runs
What You Won't See on the Bill
No hourly rate. No fuel surcharge. No fee for stairs. No fee for weight. No add-on for the drive, which in Knollwood's case is barely a drive at all.
The quote is free and comes by text once we've seen a photo. You say yes before the crew picks anything up. Curious how a quarter truck compares to a half? The load size and pricing guide spells it out.
Small Garage and Basement Cleanouts in Knollwood
A packed one-car garage can hold a surprising amount. Shelving on three walls, things hanging from the rafters, and a path down the middle if you're lucky. Our garage clear-out crew pulls it all into the driveway, loads what's going and sweeps the slab.
Basements in houses this age tend to have a narrow stair and a low beam or two. That's ordinary work for us, and it doesn't add a fee. A basement junk haul here is mostly old furniture, shelving, boxes, a dead dehumidifier and whatever the last owner left under the stairs.
Tell us what stays. A strip of tape on the keepers is enough.
How Pickup Day Goes on Knollwood Streets
The streets are residential and the driveways are short, so the truck usually parks in the drive or right at the curb in front. If cars need to move to make room, we'll ask in advance.
We come down Route 43 or Route 41 from Waukegan. Because it's so near, Knollwood is easy to fit in at the start or end of a day, and same-day or next-day times open up often. Hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday. Sundays are by appointment.
You can be gone when we come. Leave things in the garage or on the back patio, approve the price from your phone, and we'll handle the rest.
TV, Computer and Electronics Pickup in Knollwood
Illinois doesn't allow TVs, computers or other electronics in landfills. That's why the old set in the basement is still in the basement. Most haulers won't take it.
Our old TV and electronics pickup handles tube sets, flat panels, desktop towers, monitors, printers and stereo gear. They go to an electronics recycler, separate from everything else on the truck. A TV takes up very little room, so on its own it's a small job, and it adds almost nothing to a bigger one.
Where It All Goes, and What We Can't Take
Nothing gets dumped as one lump. Reusable items are pulled for donation. Metal is dropped at a scrap recycler. Electronics are recycled. The leftover material is hauled to a licensed transfer station.
The no list is short: propane tanks, gasoline, motor oil, solvents, wet paint, asbestos, ammunition and medical waste. SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, runs household chemical waste collection for residents, and that's the place for paint, oil and chemicals.
If you've got people just east of Route 41, we do junk hauling in Lake Bluff the same way.
