Junk Pickup on Channel Lake's Narrow Roads
Most of Channel Lake was laid out for summer cottages, not box trucks. Roads are slim, lots are small, and a lot of driveways are just a parking pad. When you text, tell us what the approach looks like. If the truck can't sit in front of the house, we park on the nearest spot that works and carry the load out by hand. That's part of the flat price.
Booking is easy. Send a picture by text to (224) 944-8652. Get a price. Pick a slot, and same-day or next-day is often open. Then the crew comes, lifts it from wherever it is, sweeps up and leaves. We're out from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday. Sunday we work by appointment, which suits a lot of weekend owners.
Opening and Closing the Cottage: Seasonal Cleanouts in Channel Lake
Lake places run on a calendar. In spring you open up and find what winter did: a mattress that smells like the crawl space, a couch the mice got into, a fridge that didn't come back on. In fall you close up and decide what isn't worth storing one more year.
Both are good times to text us. One load in spring or fall keeps a small cottage from turning into a storage unit. If a full clear-out is what's needed, because the place is being sold or handed down, whole-cottage and estate cleanouts start with a free 15-minute look and end with empty rooms.
Furniture and Appliance Removal for Channel Lake Cottages
Cottage furniture tends to be heavy, old and wedged in. The sleeper sofa came in before the porch was enclosed. The bunk beds were built in place. We bring tools and take things apart when that's the only way out. Furniture haul-away covers couches, beds, dressers, tables, patio sets and wicker.
Second fridges and chest freezers are a lake house habit. When one quits, it can't just sit behind the shed. The refrigerant has to be recovered before the shell is scrapped. Fridge, freezer and appliance pickup takes care of that, along with washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and water heaters.
Sheds, Garages and Lake Gear
If there's a garage, it's full. If there isn't, the shed is. Folding chairs, coolers, water toys, a flat tube, cracked paddles, a canopy frame, tangled rope, a grill with no bottom. It adds up fast in a small building. Garage and shed cleanouts are priced on what leaves, so a little shed is a little job.
A shed that's falling in can go too. So can a playset, a trampoline or an above-ground pool that's seen its last summer.
Pier Lumber, Brush and Remodel Debris Around Channel Lake
Shoreline work makes its own kind of waste. Old pier decking, broken sections, posts, a rotted set of lake stairs. Get it out of the water and up where we can reach it, and we'll load it. Wood goes one way and metal frames go to scrap.
Trees along the shore drop limbs, and Illinois keeps yard waste out of the landfill, so branches and leaves get hauled apart from household junk. Limb and brush pickup handles that. And if you're redoing the kitchen or tearing up old carpet, remodeling debris removal takes cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall and trim.
What We Can't Haul From Channel Lake
It's a short list, but it matters. No wet paint. No solvents. No motor oil or gasoline. No propane tanks. No asbestos, ammunition or medical waste. Boat sheds and lake garages tend to have a few of these on a back shelf, so check before we come.
For paint, oil and other household chemicals, Lake County residents can use the household chemical waste collection run by SWALCO, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. Set those items aside and we'll work around them.
Channel Lake Junk Removal Pricing
We charge by how much room your things take in the truck. The sizes are a quarter truck, a half, three-quarters and a full load. A couch and a mattress are near the bottom of that scale. A whole cottage is at the top or past it. Send a photo and we'll tell you which size you're looking at.
The quote covers the crew, the loading, the sweeping and the disposal. You won't see an hourly charge, a fuel charge, a stairs charge or a weight charge. Channel Lake is about as far north as Lake County goes, and the drive is still free. Nothing is loaded until you've said yes to the number. For big jobs we'll come look in person at no cost. The pricing page walks through each truck size.
Where Your Load Goes After It Leaves the Lake
We sort what we pick up. Pieces with some use left in them are donated. Metal comes off the pile for scrap recycling. TVs and other electronics are dropped with an electronics recycler, since Illinois bans them from landfills. A licensed transfer station gets only what's left after all that.
The same route covers jobs in Antioch and pickups up at Lake Catherine, so the lakes at the top of the Chain are all one trip for us.
